In 2007, Suzanna Susquehanna, the author, was challenged to "PUBLISH". This Douglas Fir Day (DFD) became a real event (over 100 people showed up!) and included an official Book Signing, by the publisher, and Kate Winchell, the Illustrator.
Once you get the book in your hands, its hard to resist planning your own DOUGLAS FIR DAY!
An inspired teacher who attended this year's DFD took the book to her classroom, dug out the floor fans used during

the summer and used them to blow snow (confetti) around the room while sharing the story with enchanted kindergartners. Another attendee pledged to have puppets tell the story next year! Children who attended the first DFD 13 years ago have returned with their children to carry on this family Christmas tradition. Older children (of all ages) tell & dramatize the story, lead the search, & make sure everyone receives the gift with his/her name on it that Santa left under Sparkling Douglas Fir.
